Requirements

• Current enrollment in and satisfactory completion of at least one academic term (quarter or semester) of a nursing program approved by the Washington State Nursing Commission and a nationally accredited nursing program such as Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or the Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
• The academic term must have included a clinical component.
• Nursing program education and practice in the scope of care for the patient population on the unit of hire (i.e. pediatrics, med/surg, OB, etc.)
• The nursing technician will provide SMC written documentation by their nursing program of the specific nursing functions/tasks they are able to perform.
• Continued enrollment in a Washington State Nursing Commission approved nursing program and a nationally accredited nursing program such as Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or the Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
• This enrollment must be maintained throughout employment as a Nursing Technician.
• This enrollment includes periods of scheduled vacation and holiday time.
• Official enrollment does not include any of the following: leave of absence from a nursing program; withdrawal (temporary or permanent) from a nursing program; enrollment in prerequisite course study or courses offered through the department of nursing or allied health programs with no current official enrollment into an approved nursing program; and students awaiting re-enrollment into a nursing program.

• National Provider BLS - American Heart Association Upon hire
