Cleveland Clinic Akron General’s Emergency Department is a Level 1 Trauma Center designed to provide comprehensive, expedited care from admission through discharge. The department features 60 treatment rooms, two trauma rooms, six rooms for minor injuries and illnesses, five behavioral health rooms, designated areas for patients experiencing sexual assault, domestic violence, elder abuse or neglect, and a specialized area for quarantining and treating highly contagious patients. The department also includes geriatric-friendly treatment areas, a rooftop helipad, and an imaging department with CT capabilities. As a Nurse Technician in the ED, you will assist with direct patient care activities under the supervision of an RN. Come join a strong, compassionate team full of endless growth. This is a regular PRN position, with caregivers working days/evenings/nights/weekends between 12:00 a.m. – 12:00 a.m. with holiday requirements.

Requirements

  • Nursing student in good standing in an accredited nursing school program OR unlicensed graduate of an accredited nursing school program
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
  • Maintain competencies specific to patient population served
  • Satisfactorily complete hospital orientation

Responsibilities

  • Provide or assist with patient care under the supervision of an RN. Patient care may include vital signs, weight, assisting patients with personal care and activities of daily living, patient transfers/transport, pulse oximetry, point of care testing, dressing changes, applying external monitoring devices and removing urinary Foley catheters.
  • Report abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental, and emotional conditions to RN.
  • Assist with keeping patients' rooms clean and orderly.
  • Complete mandatory education and training to maintain organization and department-specific competencies and requirements.
