Nurse Tech Cath Lab Prep and Recovery
About The Position
The Nurse Tech role is within the 3 MHC unit, a 24-bed Prep/Recovery unit at Meijer Heart Center. This unit prepares and recovers both outpatients and inpatients for Cath and Electrophysiology Lab procedures. The unit operates from 6 am to 9 pm. The majority of outpatients are discharged the same day and are cared for by the same staff from arrival to discharge. The pace of this unit is very fast and includes patient transport within the hospital. Procedures performed include electrophysiology, diagnostic and interventional cardiology, structural heart, and peripheral. Team members will gain knowledge in all these specialties. Additionally, the unit performs diagnostic and follow-up care for heart and lung transplant patients. The team are experts at IV starts, time management, and managing vascular access sites. Nurse Technicians remove femoral arterial and venous sheaths and manage the site to gain hemostasis. Nurse Technicians act as a team member in the delivery of quality patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN).
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) Required within 90 days
