About The Position
The Nurse Tech functions as a team member in the delivery of quality patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Provider. This role involves performing basic skills according to department guidelines, collecting and reporting patient needs, and ensuring accurate and timely documentation. The Nurse Tech will work on the 2D Observation unit, a 21-bed unit that cares for a variety of patient populations requiring hospitalization for less than 48 hours, functioning as an extension of the emergency department. This dynamic team environment allows for the strengthening of critical thinking skills and the provision of excellent patient care. Patient populations treated include cellulitis, CHF, asthma, kidney stones, and TIA. Blodgett Hospital is a community and teaching hospital with a history of providing high-quality, compassionate, and personalized medical care since 1846, offering patient-focused inpatient care in 248 private rooms and outpatient services.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) Required within 90 days
Responsibilities
- Acts as a team member in the delivery of quality patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Provider.
- Performs basic skills per department guidelines and communicates observations to members of the health care team.
- Collects and reports physiological, psychological, sociocultural and spiritual needs of patients and families in coordination with and as delineated by the RN or Provider.
- Takes vitals.
- Checks blood sugars.
- Provides bed bathing.
- Assists with ambulation.
- Performs wound care.
- Performs catheterization.
- Acts as a safety attendant for patients.
- Ensures that the required documentation is performed in an accurate and timely manner.
