About The Position

The Nurse Tech assists licensed personnel in providing direct nursing care under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse (RN). This role involves collecting, recording, and reporting accurate patient information, performing routine procedures competently, and delivering basic care to patients as directed by the RN. The Nurse Tech provides service to patients and families with sensitivity and respect for their expectations, age, cultural, and individual needs. They respond to call lights and complete other assigned tasks in a timely manner, while consistently and effectively complying with department service standards such as purposeful rounding, bedside shift report, and white board management to enhance customer communication. Effective communication with all members of the health care team is crucial to promote effective team functioning, and the Nurse Tech actively seeks feedback and coaching to improve customer experience. They contribute to customer experience goals as evidenced by positive patient experience scores/comments and/or other written compliments. The role requires accessing rooms that contain IV solutions, authorized medications, and supplies as needed for patient care responsibilities and adhering to National Patient Safety Goals (i.e., use of 2 patient identifiers) when accessing patient information and performing job duties.

Requirements

• Enrolled in a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse program with successful completion of hands-on clinical coursework.
• May remain in role up to one (1) year after graduation from nursing program OR Licensure as a RN or LPN is obtained OR NCLEX exam is failed two (2) times or more.

• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (AHA BLS) Healthcare Provider Completion Card prior to start date and maintained.
• Must meet unit-specific care requirements.
• Ability to speak and understand verbal and written instructions in the English language.
• Ability to focus and prioritize multiple activities.

Responsibilities
