About The Position

The Nurse Tech provides inpatient bedside care for the General Medical Patient Population, which may include patients with a wide variety of diagnoses such as pneumonia, cellulitis, kidney failure, hyperglycemia, diabetic issues, ulcers, confused elderly, alcohol abuse, acute/chronic kidney injury, sepsis, and the psychiatric population. This role is part of the Corewell Health Grand Rapids Hospitals system, specifically at Butterworth Hospital, a nationally recognized hospital known for patient quality and safety.

The Nurse Tech performs basic skills under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Provider, communicating observations to the healthcare team. This position does not require CNA certification due to the extensive orientation and on-the-job training provided. The orientation includes 3-4 weekdays of classroom time with Nurse Educators, requiring attendance from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) Required within 90 days

Responsibilities

• Taking vitals
• Checking blood sugars
• Performing bed baths
• Assisting with ambulation
• Wound care
• Catheterization
• Acting as a safety attendant for patients
• Acting as a team member in the delivery of quality patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Provider
• Performing basic skills per department guidelines
• Communicating observations to members of the health care team
