The Nurse Tech provides inpatient bedside care for the General Medical Patient Population, which may include patients with a wide variety of diagnoses such as pneumonia, cellulitis, kidney failure, hyperglycemia, diabetic issues, ulcers, confused elderly, alcohol abuse, acute/chronic kidney injury, sepsis, and the psychiatric population. The Nurse Tech acts as a team member in the delivery of quality patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Provider. They perform basic skills per department guidelines and communicate observations to members of the health care team. This role does not require CNA certification due to the extensive orientation and on-the-job training provided. The orientation includes 3-4 weekdays of classroom time with Nurse Educators, which are pre-scheduled and required weekday classes requiring attendance from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
