About The Position

4H is a 22-bed unit that cares for a variety of medical and surgical patients, specializing in digestive diseases. The patient population is an even mix of medical and surgical cases, including colorectal and bariatric surgical patients, as well as bowel obstruction, kidney failure, cellulitis, and falls. The unit is an accredited bariatric surgery center that focuses on continuous quality improvement. Blodgett Hospital has a history of providing high-quality, compassionate, and personalized medical care, earning a reputation for excellence as a community and teaching hospital. It provides patient-focused inpatient care in 248 private patient rooms and outpatient services for medical, surgical, and specialty care, achieving high rates of patient satisfaction. The Nurse Tech acts as a team member in the delivery of quality patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Provider. They perform basic skills per department guidelines and communicate observations to the healthcare team. Responsibilities include collecting and reporting physiological, psychological, sociocultural, and spiritual needs of patients and families in coordination with the RN or Provider. Specific duties include taking vitals, checking blood sugars, bed bathing, ambulating, wound care, catheterization, and acting as a safety attendant for patients. Ensures that required documentation is performed accurately and in a timely manner.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Work Equivalent
  • AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) Required within 90 days

Responsibilities

  • Acts as a team member in the delivery of quality patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Provider.
  • Performs basic skills per department guidelines and communicates observations to members of the health care team.
  • Collects and reports physiological, psychological, sociocultural and spiritual needs of patients and families in coordination with and as delineated by the RN or Provider.
  • Takes vitals.
  • Checks blood sugars.
  • Performs bed bathing.
  • Assists with ambulation.
  • Performs wound care.
  • Performs catheterization.
  • Acts as a safety attendant for patients.
  • Ensures that the required documentation is performed in an accurate and timely manner.
