About The Position
The Nurse Tech position on unit 3H at Blodgett Hospital is for a 22-bed Neuroscience/Spine unit specializing in the care of patients with neurological conditions, stroke, and spinal surgeries. Employees on this unit gain expertise in caring for a wide range of surgical and medical patients, with a particular focus on stroke care and managing various neurological conditions, wounds, drains, and post-operative recovery. A unique skill that will be learned is the utilization of the NIHSS Stroke Scale. Requirements
- High School Diploma or Work Equivalent
- AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) Required within 90 days
Responsibilities
- Acts as a team member in the delivery of quality patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Provider.
- Performs basic skills per department guidelines and communicates observations to members of the health care team.
- Collects and reports physiological, psychological, sociocultural and spiritual needs of patients and families in coordination with and as delineated by the RN or Provider.
- Takes vitals, checks blood sugars, performs bed bathing, ambulates patients, assists with wound care, catheterization, and acts as a safety attendant for patients.
- Ensures that the required documentation is performed in an accurate and timely manner.
