About The Position

The Nurse Tech works as a member of the patient-care team under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Provider. The role performs basic patient-care skills according to department guidelines, communicates observations to the health care team, and collects and reports patients’ and families’ physiological, psychological, sociocultural, and spiritual needs in coordination with and as directed by the RN or Provider. Duties include taking vital signs, checking blood sugars, bed bathing, ambulating patients, wound care, catheterization, and serving as a safety attendant. The Nurse Tech is responsible for accurate and timely documentation.

The position supports the 3E/G team at Blodgett Hospital, which serves medical and orthopedic patients, including Total Joint Replacement, Hip Fracture, and Osteomyelitis patients. The role is part-time, on the night shift, with variable workdays and every other weekend scheduled.

Requirements

• High school diploma or work equivalent.
• AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS), required within 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic patient-care skills according to department guidelines under the supervision of an RN or Provider.
• Communicate observations to members of the health care team.
• Collect and report patients’ and families’ physiological, psychological, sociocultural, and spiritual needs in coordination with and as directed by the RN or Provider.
• Take vital signs and check blood sugars.
• Provide bed baths and assist patients with ambulation.
• Perform wound care and catheterization.
• Act as a safety attendant for patients.
• Complete required documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
