About The Position

This position is for a Nurse Tech in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Blodgett Hospital. The unit, 1H, is a 22-bed adult critical care unit that cares for both medical and surgical ICU patients. Team members will encounter a wide variety of patient ages and diagnoses, including stroke, sepsis, diabetic ketoacidosis, and respiratory failure. The role offers opportunities to learn about ventilators, sedation, paralytics, continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT), post cardiac arrest cooling, and ICU thrombolytic therapy. The unit is described as a supportive environment for new staff, with experienced nurses from various backgrounds on both day and night shifts who are eager to teach. Collaboration occurs with ICU providers, respiratory care, physical therapy, pharmacy, and social work to meet patient needs. Blodgett Hospital itself is a community and teaching hospital with a history of high-quality, compassionate care, offering inpatient and outpatient services.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• 1 year of direct patient care experience STRONGLY preferred.
• AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) Required within 90 days

• 1 year of direct patient care experience

Responsibilities

• Acts as a team member in the delivery of quality patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Provider.
• Performs basic skills per department guidelines and communicates observations to members of the health care team.
• Collects and reports physiological, psychological, sociocultural and spiritual needs of patients and families in coordination with and as delineated by the RN or Provider.
• Responsibilities include taking vitals, checking blood sugars, bed bathing, ambulating, wound care, catheterization and acting as a safety attendant for patients.
• Ensures that the required documentation is performed in an accurate and timely manner.
