About The Position

Under the direction of the Director of Nursing, the Nursing Team Leader functions as a clinical leader and expert on the unit to which she/he is assigned. The Nursing Team Leader oversees day to day clinical operations on the unit and provides support to the nursing staff, patients, and families.

Requirements

• 3 years of pediatric experience at a minimum.
• Bachelor's of Science in Nursing required.
• NYS RN license required.
• BLS required.
• PALS required.

Nice To Haves

• Charge or leadership experience preferred.
• Master's Degree in a relevant field preferred.
• Certification in pediatric nursing preferred.

Responsibilities

• Promotes a harmonious work environment.
• Provides clinical leadership and guidance to staff members.
• Acts as a role model in all activities of patient care delivery and professional interactions with staff, physicians, the multi-disciplinary team, and BCH leadership.
• Ensures that that patients and families receive care in accordance with professional and organizational standards.
• Manages clinical report on all children on the unit, using standardized communication tools.
• Accurately assesses the conditions and health needs of the patients on the unit, including biophysical, psychosocial, environmental, self-care and educational factors
• Implements prescribed nursing actions and medical treatments using evidence based practices
• Safeguards the rights of patient and family members in accordance with hospital policy.
