Requirements

  • Missouri Board of Nursing RN or Nurse Licensure Compact multi-state RN. When primary state of residency changes, compact state RNs must apply under new state of residency within thirty (30) days.
  • One (1) year of acute or urgent care RN experience.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree if hired after July 2025. Existing staff in this title are grandfathered from the BSN requirement.

Responsibilities

  • Create a professional environment conducive to the delivery of high-quality patient-centered care.
  • Serve as a role model, resource, and coach to nursing staff. Provide ongoing support for professional development and adherence to patient and quality outcomes.
  • Support the management team through the employee life cycle, including interviewing, hiring, onboarding, and staff development. Evaluate staff competencies and employee engagement and provide coaching and other interventions as needed. Provide ongoing feedback and complete staff rounding and performance reviews.
  • Facilitate and evaluate shift huddles and coordinate debriefs for safety events. Collaborate with performance improvement professionals to develop and implement quality initiatives to improve patient care outcomes.
  • Plan and schedule appropriate staffing. Accountable for scheduling system and ensures schedules are approved, balanced, and covered.
  • Provide patient care as required using the appropriate process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of clinical care.
  • Collaborate with service line leadership to provide educational and staff development opportunities. Assist with educating staff on the use of new equipment, supplies, instruments, and protocols.
  • Assist manager and service line leaders in monitoring expenditures and maintaining operational costs related to training, supplies, and staffing. Ensure equipment is maintained and appropriate levels of supplies are kept in stock.
  • Develop, coordinate, and maintain daily staffing schedules to ensure the appropriate level of unit coverage and continuity of care.
  • Monitor time and attendance in alignment with MU Health Care policies and practices, ensuring accuracy of records and timely submittal/approval for payroll purposes.
  • May complete unit/department-specific duties and expectations as outlined in department documents.
