About The Position

This role is for a Nurse Supervisor in the Cardiac Catheterization Lab at Four Peaks Medical Center. The position involves supervising patient care and staff development, determining unit needs, and ensuring adherence to organizational standards. The Nurse Supervisor will assist the Clinical Director in managing staff and patients, and will also provide direct patient care. Specific knowledge of stroke symptoms, protocols, NIHSS, stroke alert activation, quality indicators, and patient education is required for RNs caring for stroke patients. The role emphasizes a culture of warmth and kindness, with a focus on expert care and community well-being.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN, BScN) from an accredited NLN/CCNE institution
  • Legally licensed to work as a registered nurse in the State of Arizona.
  • 2 years Registered Nurse (RN) experience
  • Clinical Other\BCLS - Basic Life Support BLS Healthcare Provider Training Course
  • Must obtain a certification in their respective area of expertise within 1 year of hire or promotion date for magnet standards.
  • Nursing\RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure And/Or Compact State Licensure State Licensure

Responsibilities

  • Supervises, assesses, plans, coordinates, facilitates, and evaluates patient care and staff development.
  • Determines and maintains unit or program needs and standards using the nursing process and evidence-based information.
  • Assumes responsibility and accountability for incorporating the vision, values, mission, and critical goals of the organization into job performance.
  • Assists the Clinical Director in the management of the unit's assigned staff and patient population.
  • Provides direct patient care according to the needs of the unit/program and collaborates with physicians in executing the medical plan of care.
  • Oversees staff and ensures adequate patient care, including hiring/onboarding, evaluating, managing performance, coaching, and developing employees.
  • Ensures employee productivity, quality of work, and alignment of goals with the organization's mission, vision, and values.
  • Establishes a care plan or contributes to an existing plan, including administering medication, checking dosages, and avoiding interactions.
  • Starts, maintains, and discontinues intravenous (IV) lines for fluid, medication, blood, and blood products.
  • Administers therapies and treatments, observes the patient, and records observations.
  • Consults with physicians and other healthcare clinicians.
  • Ensures compliance with all policies and financial stewardship by being accountable for the financial integrity around the development and maintenance of the department budget.
  • Serves as a resource to others, including staff, patients, families, caregivers, physicians, and visitors to improve the patient experience, clinical outcomes, and promote a healthy work environment.
  • Teaches patients and their families how to manage their illnesses or injuries, explains post-treatment and home care needs, diet, nutrition, and exercise programs, and self-administration of medication and therapy.
  • Facilitates inter/intra departmental collaboration, communication, and promotes problem-solving.
  • Participates in policy revisions and committees applicable to the department.
  • Participates in the creation, implementation, and follow-up of goals and action planning related to the unit.
  • Contributes to the recruitment and retention of talented staff through positive role-modeling, fostering peer relationships, staff education, and participating in preceptor and/or mentor programs.
  • Coordinates educational and professional activities as they relate to department/unit needs.
  • Regularly rounds with physicians, patients, or families to facilitate quality practice and improve the patient experience.
  • Utilizes the nursing process and evidence-based practice to provide patient care and evaluate the patient’s plan of care.
  • Initiates and supports quality improvement initiatives and utilizes resources effectively and efficiently.
  • Directs staff in the application of the nursing process.
  • Provides direction, coordinates patient care, promotes, and enhances independent functioning among employees.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
