This role involves providing and managing patient care within a unit, designing, implementing, and evaluating nursing interventions by coordinating, delegating, and supervising the healthcare team. The position serves as a communication link between the Unit Director, staff, patients, and physicians, acting as a resource for patient care assessment and planning. It also facilitates problem resolution, collaborates on quality of care assessment, identifies staff strengths and weaknesses, and evaluates staff performance. The supervisor acts as a liaison between staff and Clinical Nurse Specialists, and is responsible for the cost-effective and efficient use of resources. The job requires adapting behavior to specific patient populations, including respect for privacy, communication style, and obtaining permissions. The role also involves staying knowledgeable about current laws, regulations, and standards, and ensuring compliance.
