About The Position
This role oversees the Med Surg Ortho 3 East department of frontline nurses caring for patients. The Nurse Shift Manager advocates for fellow nurses, supports them in reaching their full potential, and aligns with the department's operational goals and objectives. The ideal candidate is accountable, confident, an excellent communicator in both 1:1 interactions and group settings, and comfortable holding tough conversations, as they are responsible for the performance of their people and their unit.
Requirements
- Associate's degree in Nursing
- 2 years of clinical experience as a RN
- Current CA RN license
- BLS through American Heart Association

- Previous experience in acute care
Responsibilities
- Planning the overall nursing care and functions in a particular nursing unit during an assigned shift.
- Supervising nursing staff assigned to a particular shift.
- Assigns patients to available nursing staff, taking into consideration the patient's condition and the employee's skill level.
- Anticipating staffing needs and moves proactively to respond to them.
- Overseeing stocking of supplies and updating patient records to ensure that the nursing floor is ready for subsequent shifts.
