The Nurse Resident position is a mentored experience designed to facilitate the transition from student to professional nurse. This role involves the delivery of coordinated nursing care for patients or assigned groups of patients within a specific unit. Responsibilities include the day-to-day management and supervision of related clinical activities, as well as supervising and directing the activities of various levels of assigned nursing and ancillary personnel. The Nurse Resident must understand and adhere to the California Nurse Practice Act, the American Nurses Association (ANA) Code of Ethics for Nurses, ANA Bill of Rights for Registered Nurses, and the ANA Scope and Standards of Practice for Nurses. Proficiency in speaking and reading English is required to satisfactorily perform the essential functions of the position. Knowledge of standard office equipment and personal computer software skills, including proficient use of a keyboard and mouse for various computer functions, is necessary upon employment or within the first two weeks. The role also includes performing other duties as assigned and following Palomar Health rules, policies, procedures, applicable laws, and standards, while carrying out the mission, vision, and quality commitment of Palomar Health.
