About The Position

Northern Arizona Healthcare is hiring for Nurse Residents to join their nursing team at Flagstaff Medical Center. They are looking for Nurse Residents to start in their November 9 cohort for Adult Inpatient Units (Med Surg Tele). The Nurse Resident is responsible for providing and supervising direct and indirect total nursing care responsibilities to identified age-specific groups. They will utilize the nursing process (assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating) in achieving the goals of the nursing department. Nurse Residents will be under the direct supervision of a preceptor for all principal duties and responsibilities during the training program with eventual transition to independent practice after successful training program completion. Upon completion of the yearlong (12 months) nurse resident program, the nurse resident will transition to the RN job description. A Nurse Resident is defined as an employee who has just exited nursing school, is newly licensed, or an experienced RN new to the acute care setting. Requirements

• Arizona RN license required by nurse residency start date.
• BLS required.
• Nurse Resident must successfully complete ACLS training prior to independent practice. ACLS will be provided as part of the residency program.
• Associate Degree in Nursing - Required.
• New hire RNs and those hired on or after 7/1/2016 - Must enroll in a BSN program within one year of hire and complete within 5 years of hire.
• Current, unrestricted RN license in the State of Arizona - Required.
• BLS (American Heart Assoc.) - Required.
• Call may be required depending on the department.
• Colleagues must have an understanding of computers, and competence in using computers and basic software programs.

Responsibilities

• Providing and supervising direct and indirect total nursing care responsibilities to identified age-specific groups.
• Utilizing the nursing process (assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating) in achieving the goals of the nursing department.
• Working under the direct supervision of a preceptor for all principal duties and responsibilities during the training program with eventual transition to independent practice after successful training program completion.
• Participating in New Colleague & RN Orientation, CERNER Electronic Medical Record (EMR) Training, Basic ECG Interpretation & ACLS certification.
• Participating in a continued learning plan that lasts one year after date of hire, consisting of a 4-hour module or in-person class once every four weeks.
• Providing additional opportunities for learning clinical concepts, providing emotional support and enhancing professional growth.
