About The Position

Tidewell Hospice, part of Empath Health, is hiring recent-graduate registered nurses for a 12-month Nurse Residency program. The program prepares residents to care for hospice patients and their families through weekly classroom education, coached practical experience, and scheduled rotations across hospice teams and service lines. Exam fees for the Certified Hospice Nurse exam are covered by Empath Health. Residents join their new team in the seventh month, with continued individualized orientation as needed. The schedule is 40 hours per week, typically consisting of three 12-hour shifts in the Hospice House and four hours of clinical education each week. The program includes six months of practical experience with a Hospice Clinical Coach/Preceptor in a hospice house setting, as well as rotations with other hospice teams and the Home, ALF, and Admissions service lines. No medical/surgical experience is necessary. A $5,000 sign-on bonus is offered.

Requirements

Less than one year of RN experience to qualify for the residency program.
ASN or BSN degree from an accredited program.
Current Florida RN license or multistate compact license.
Valid CPR certification from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
Valid driver’s license, proof of insurance, and access to transportation.
Medical clearance for communicable diseases and up-to-date immunizations before direct participant contact.

Nice To Haves

Clinical experience with hospice or ALF patients is preferred.

Responsibilities

Participate in weekly classroom education focused on hospice patient and family care.
