About The Position

As a National Nurse Resident, you’ll step into a hands-on, supportive experience designed to help you grow and build confidence from day one. You won’t be on your own. OrthoColorado Hospital is Colorado's only orthopedic specialty hospital and is designed specifically for the orthopedic patient. Located on the St. Anthony Medical Campus, OrthoColorado Hospital is a joint venture between physician investors and CommonSpirit Mountain Region. Our state-of-the-art facility features a 48-bed inpatient unit, including six intermediate care beds and eight operating rooms. All members of our team from pre-operative care through recovery and our in-patient nurses are specialty trained in orthopedics. Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing with a minimum of an Associate’s Degree in Nursing.
  • Active License as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state in which s/he will be practicing or the state of primary residency if the state is a Nurse Licensure Compact state.
  • 0-12 months of professional nursing (RN) experience.
  • BLS certification - American Heart Association.
  • Ability to deliver excellence in patient care through assessing, formulating nursing diagnoses and establishing goals, planning and implementing intervention, and evaluating patient care outcomes.
  • Critical thinking and problem solving.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN).

Responsibilities

  • Builds skills to utilize current evidence-based practice knowledge, the nursing process, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills to provide holistic care to individuals across the lifespan and care continuum.
  • Basic understanding of and ability to assess ailments and injuries of patients and implement a treatment plan.
  • Learns to collaborate and communicate with the interprofessional team to ensure effective and efficient patient care delivery and the achievement of desired patient outcomes.
  • Basic understanding of and ability to provide clinical skills necessary for patient care, e.g., history taking, therapeutic planning, and monitoring, etc., to achieve optimized outcomes in medication therapy and clinical treatment.
  • Basic understanding and knowledge of the risks faced by patients in a healthcare environment, and the ability to take steps to reduce these risks.
  • Develops accountability for own practice, delegated care, and the coordination of care delivery. Behaves in a manner that supports colleagues, and maintains respect, trust, and dignity.
