This 12-month Nurse Residency Program, accredited with distinction by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation in Practice Transition Programs, is designed to support graduate nurses with under a year of experience. The program integrates educational components with up to 18 weeks of preceptor-led clinical experiences on medical, surgical, and step-down units at Christiana and Wilmington Hospitals. The Float Pool supports 40 nursing units with diverse diagnoses. Upon completion, nurses will have a strong foundation for practice in fast-paced environments, with training including ACLS, dysrhythmia training, and step-down competencies. An employment agreement is required upon completion of the training program. The program includes continued residency meetings in months 8, 10, and 12 for professional development. Nurse residents must pass State Boards and be licensed as an RN in Delaware prior to starting. A commitment agreement to work at ChristianaCare for two years, with a minimum of 15 months on the unit of hire, is required.
