About The Position
The Nurse Residency program at Mayo Clinic is designed to support newly licensed Registered Nurses in their first year of practice, helping them become well-rounded and fully competent professionals. The program is accredited with distinction by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation in Practice Transition Programs. Requirements
- New graduate RN
- Must possess excellent communication skills.
- Skillful in mentoring and teaching.
- State licensure required for TN sponsorship.
- Completion of VisaScreen or equivalent certification required for TN sponsorship.

Responsibilities
- Accountable for the coordination of nursing care, including direct patient care, patient/family education, and transitions of care.
- Supports professional nursing practice across practice settings and the continuum of care to meet patient and family needs.
- Functions within the Mayo Clinic Nursing Professional Practice Model, with accountability for planning, implementing, evaluating, and communicating all phases of nursing care for assigned patients.
- Provides leadership through preceptor roles, informal and formal leadership activities, and quality improvement efforts.
- Delegates patient care according to skill level, experience, patient acuity, fiscal accountability, and resource availability.
- Possesses excellent communication skills and is skillful in mentoring and teaching.
- May participate on committees or projects.
- A subset of employees may be required to drive their personal vehicle as part of the responsibility of their role.
