About The Position

The Perioperative Registered Nurse (RN) provides nursing care to patients in select phases of Perioperative care (as competency demonstrates). This care utilizes the nursing process and the standards of care of a professional nurse. The RN is expected to perform all staff nurse activities and functions as charge nurse when assigned. The RN maintains overall accountability/responsibility for assigned patients, even though some activities/ tasks may be delegated to Surgical Technologists, Patient Care Associated, Guest Associates and Anesthesia Technologists. Under the supervision of the Nurse Manager, the RN manages individualized, goal directed nursing care through use of the nursing process and the principles of primary nursing in accordance with departmental and hospital policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Licensed to practice nursing in the state of Florida
  • BLS from the American Heart Association is required
  • ACLS from the American Heart Association is required
  • PALS is required within 6 months from the date of hire/transfer.
  • Fellowship RN's must obtain their ACLS and PALS within six (6) months of hire or transfer.
  • PACU Nurses need a minimum of 1 year critical care (ICU/ED) experience.
  • OR Nurses need 1-2 years of related OR experience.
  • OR Perioperative Fellows can be new graduate nurses that may apply to the program.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's Degree
  • BSN degree from an accredited school of nursing within three (3) years of hire or transfer into the position (for new hires effective June 14, 2017).
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or Specialty Certification.
  • Professional Specialty Certification Preferred.
  • 2+ years of relevant perioperative nursing experience.
