The Nurse Practitioner will provide comprehensive nursing care and medical care as required, assessing the physical and emotional needs of patients and their families. The role involves planning and ensuring the delivery of specific health care services, providing medical treatment and advice, securing case history, examining patients, utilizing diagnostic tests, interpreting findings for diagnosis, and performing necessary treatment with follow-up care. The Nurse Practitioner will refer patients for consultation when necessary, prescribe and/or dispense medications per protocol and state licensure limitations, and direct, organize, and participate in preventive health programs. This position adheres to the CVHS contract, assists other health professionals, and upholds CVHS Bylaws and Principles of Practice. Maintaining high standards of personal and professional behavior, a good program of continuing professional education, and providing thorough health maintenance education to patients are key aspects of the role. The Nurse Practitioner will participate in quality assurance programs, consult with collaborating physicians when needed, and maintain complete and orderly medical records. Administrative, supervisory, and teaching duties may also be performed as directed. A team-based approach to patient-centered medical care is supported.
