About The Position

The Nurse Practitioner will work as a Critical Care NP on a nocturnist shift, assisting Intensivists at UAB St. Vincent's East in Trussville. The schedule is 7 days on and 7 days off, with rotating weeks and call requirements shared with other midlevels.

The role includes obtaining patient histories and conducting assessments, ordering and interpreting diagnostic studies, providing preventive care, managing health conditions, and educating patients and their families or caregivers. The Nurse Practitioner documents care in accordance with specialty standards and network nursing policy.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Nursing.
• BLS Provider credential from the American Heart Association, obtained within 30 days of hire or job transfer; American Heart Association Advanced Life Support certification may be accepted in lieu of BLS Provider certification.
• Certified Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner credential from the Alabama Board of Nursing, obtained before hire or job transfer.

Nice To Haves

• Drug Enforcement Administration credential.

Responsibilities

• Obtain patient histories and perform assessments through observation, interviews, and examinations.
• Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic studies.
• Perform preventive health assessments, screenings, immunizations, and patient care.
• Provide direct treatment and management of health conditions, including referrals to other health care providers or community resources.
• Counsel and educate patients and their families or caregivers about preventive health, treatment options, and community resources.
• Document health care delivery and nursing processes in accordance with specialty standards and network nursing policy.
