About The Position

As a Nurse Practitioner, your superior interpersonal and empathetic skills, as well as your comprehension of diagnostic procedures greatly assists you in providing medical services to patients. This role includes the evaluation and management of sleep disorders across the lifespan, including complex psychiatric conditions such as insomnia, narcolepsy, parasomnias (e.g., night terrors), and sleep disturbances associated with psychiatric comorbidities.

Requirements

  • MS: Nursing (Required)
  • NP - Nurse Practitioner Certification - New York State Education Department (NYSED)
  • RN - Registered Nurse - New York State Education Department (NYSED)
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Compassionate, kind and patient focused
  • Ability to evaluate and manage patients with overlapping sleep and behavioral health conditions

Nice To Haves

  • NYSED Dual certification (e.g., FNP-C, PMHNP-BC) preferred

Responsibilities

  • Patient Satisfaction. Interacts on a frequent, regular and daily basis with patients, family members, medical/social/public services support, regulatory agencies and/or payor agencies. Interaction and communication requires expressed empathy, understanding, problem-solving, education, information gathering, process influencing and counseling.
  • Evaluates, diagnoses, and manages a wide range of sleep disorders, including those with psychiatric or behavioral components.
  • Prescribe medication, perform minor procedures and coordinate treatment; provide health education and guidance regarding treatment; communicate with, and counsel family members; recommend community resources and refer patients to collaborating physician, behavioral health specialists, or other specialists as indicated.
  • Perform administrative responsibilities such as updating patient charts, billing codes and completing required documents from outside agencies
