About The Position

The Uintah and Ouray Health Center is seeking a Nurse Practitioner to provide comprehensive public health services in an ambulatory 40-hour facility. This role offers the opportunity to apply your skills to a wide scope of healthcare, serving a diverse patient population. The facility is staffed by physicians, physician's assistants, nurse practitioners, and dental, optometry, and psychology providers, offering services including general medical, surgical follow-up, pediatric, prenatal and postpartum care, dental, behavioral health, and optometry. Visiting consultants provide other clinical specialties periodically, and patients requiring more complex care are referred to contracted facilities. This position is located in Fort Duchesne, Utah, offering a unique lifestyle with access to outdoor activities and natural beauty.

Requirements

• Minimum of six months of experience.
• Completion of a minimum of a master's degree in nurse practitioner, preferably in Family Nurse Practitioner or Women's Health.
• Active, unrestricted, and free of disciplinary action license as a nurse in a State, District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a Territory of the United States.
• Current certification in Basic Life Support.

Responsibilities

• Interviews and examines patients, reviews past medical history, and requests and/or performs diagnostic tests and examinations as necessary.
• Provides definitive management and full-spectrum family ambulatory practice in all medical categories.
• Conducts outpatient clinics, making observations appropriate to the patient's underlying disease and treatment plan.
• Reviews patient medications, diet, therapy course, adherence to management plan, and patient observations, modifying the regimen as indicated.
• Instructs and counsels patients and family members in a culturally sensitive manner.
• Refers patients to appropriate contracted medical facilities, providing full clinical information for care and diagnostic procedures that cannot be adequately provided at the Uintah and Ouray Service Unit.
• Assures preparation of appropriate medical records for all patients seen.
• Provides clinical reports and correspondence concerning patients under their care.
• Works closely with allied professionals to advise and coordinate their services and medical, psychological, and social problem management applications.
• Provides prenatal care to expected patients in the first and second trimester.
• Provides pediatric care from newborn to adulthood, demonstrating familiarity with growth, development, disease states, and the unique status of pediatric patients.
• Participates in pre-visit planning, care coordination, and clinic improvement activities.
• Evaluates and treats approximately 12 to 20 patients during an eight-hour work day.
• Performs diagnostic and therapeutic procedures normally performed by family practice nurse practitioners, such as minor surgery (laceration repair, excision of skin lesions), joint injections, joint aspirations, aspiration of cysts, trigger point injections, and other similar procedures.
