About The Position

Mercer Medicine clinic in Sparta, GA is searching for a Nurse Practitioner. This position requires a Masters in Nursing/Family Medicine Nurse Practitioner from an accredited college/university, a current Nurse Practitioner certification from the American Nurses Credentialing Center or American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, and at least one year of experience in a general clinic situation, preferably a physician practice. Candidate must provide a certificate of current liability insurance coverage. Experience working in a family practice setting is a plus as is prescription authority from the DEA.

Requirements

  • Masters in Nursing/Family Medicine Nurse Practitioner from an accredited college/university
  • Current Nurse Practitioner certification from the American Nurses Credentialing Center or American Academy of Nurse Practitioners
  • At least one year of experience in a general clinic situation, preferably a physician practice
  • Certificate of current liability insurance coverage
  • Current certification in Basic Life Support

Responsibilities

  • Provide primary health care to patients in the general population under supervision of a physician, written approval protocols, and the Nurse Practice Act of Georgia.
  • Works independently, collaboratively and under protocols with designated physician.
  • Enforces health and immunization policies.
  • Provides immunizations and injections to general population as needed.
  • Makes referrals to appropriate medical specialists.
  • Provides patient education to people seen in the clinic.
  • Competent in providing Basic Life Support (with current certification).
  • Exam and Evaluates patient signs/symptoms and initiates treatment as indicated within their scope of practice.
  • Developing treatment plans for acute and chronic diseases.
  • Educating and guiding patients on disease prevention and healthy lifestyle habits.
  • Emphasizing preventative care and disease management.
  • Managing overall patient care regarding lifestyle and development issues.
  • Refers patients to appropriate medical/health care specialists when indicated.
  • Has prescriptive authority by using our MD's DEA or has their own DEA.
  • Possesses strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Microsoft Office Applications and intermediate computer skills and experience or ability to utilize EMR (Athena).
  • Able to work as a team player with clinic colleagues and department as a whole.
