About The Position

This position works as part of an interdisciplinary acute and outpatient health care team. Under the direction of the Ostomy and Wound Care Coordinator, reporting to the Manager, Ostomy and Wound Care, the Nurse Practitioner will provide medical oversight to the daily operations of the Complex Foot Clinic. In conjunction with the nurses specializing in wound, ostomy, and continence care, the Nurse Practitioner will be responsible for assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care for clients attending the clinic to maximize opportunities for healing. Goals will include minimizing detriments to healing including facilitating offloading, provision of health counselling, liaising with primary healthcare team/GP for glucose management, treatment of infection, and any other person-specific interventions. This role will refer to specialty physicians including orthopaedics, cardiovascular, plastics, and infectious diseases as necessary for advanced management of wound. In addition, as a member of the Ostomy and Wound department, the NP will act as a collaborative team member contributing to overall functions of the department as assigned.

Requirements

  • One year experience in community needs assessment/development/health promotion
  • 3 years experience as an RN in primary care, public health or acute care
  • Graduate from an approved School of Nursing
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support Certificate (BCLS)
  • Certification in Primary Care Nurse Practitioner or equivalent program required
  • Registered/eligible for registration with the CRNS as RN (NP)
  • Registered/eligible with the College of Registered Nurses of Saskatchewan (CRNS)
  • Requires a valid driver’s license.

Nice To Haves

  • Degree in Nursing preferred
  • Certification as a wound care clinician from an accredited program
  • May require access to a vehicle for work.
