About The Position

The Nurse Practitioner will blend their in-depth knowledge with their understanding of the legislation to assess and support the full range of options for end of life care including Medical Assistance in Dying (MAID). The Nurse Practitioner collaborates with interdisciplinary team members and liaises with health professionals and agencies throughout the province to facilitate high quality care for the patient and family seeking this service. The position will require response to needs in all health facilities and dwellings within the neighboring rural areas.

Requirements

Master of Nursing - Nurse Practitioner (MN-NP)
Valid Class 5 driver's license
Basic Life Support Certificate (BLS)
Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office programs (Word/Excel/Outlook)
Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication skills.
Knowledge in appropriate end of life care and principles
Commitment to continued learning and professional development.
Be a champion of patient and family-centered care
Demonstrates empathy, trust and respect in the provision of care
Proficient in peripheral access
Some knowledge and practical application of central line access
Registered/eligible for registration with the CRNS as RN (NP)
Ability to travel when required

Nice To Haves

Minimum one year experience in community and palliative
Minimum three (3) years’ experience in emergency and/or critical care.
Previous experience with patients exploring end of life options is an asset.
