Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Nurse Practitioner in an orthopedic setting
  • Master’s degree from an accredited Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) program
  • Certification as an Adult or Family Nurse Practitioner through one of the following: American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), Nurse Practitioner Certification Center (NPCC), or American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP)
  • Current Indiana APRN licensure
  • Controlled substance license and DEA registration
  • CSR Prescriptive Authority
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required

Nice To Haves

  • ACLS certification preferred

Responsibilities

  • Perform general history and physical examinations, inpatient consults, and daily progress notes
  • Order, interpret, and evaluate laboratory tests and diagnostic imaging
  • Diagnose health conditions and develop, implement, and evaluate treatment plans
  • Assist with discharge planning, discharge orders, and discharge summaries
  • Educate patients and families on conditions, procedures, and post-operative care
  • Collaborate closely with the attending orthopedic surgeon to create and implement care plans
  • Refer to and collaborate with emergency department physicians, hospitalist teams, and supporting specialties, including general surgery, cardiology, trauma, urology, nephrology, hematology, and oncology
  • Perform clinical procedures such as casting and splinting
  • Perform clinical procedures such as joint injections and aspirations
  • Perform clinical procedures such as wound vacuum-assisted closure (VAC) placement and management
