About The Position

The Nurse Practitioner provides medical and psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, and treatment for individuals in detoxification and residential levels of care. This role emphasizes trauma-informed, patient-centered, and evidence-based practices aligned with ASAM Criteria, Stages of Change, and Joint Commission standards. The NP will collaborate closely with the interdisciplinary team to ensure continuity, safety, and quality of care throughout the recovery journey.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Nursing (MSN); Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) preferred.
  • Current, unrestricted West Virginia Nurse Practitioner license (or eligibility upon hire).
  • DEA license with Schedule III authority.
  • Current CPR/BLS certification (or ability to obtain within 30 days).

Nice To Haves

  • Certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) or Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP).
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in addiction medicine, behavioral health, or primary care.
  • Familiarity with ASAM levels of care, psychopharmacology, and MAT protocols.
  • Experience working in multidisciplinary, residential, or acute-care settings.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments, psychiatric evaluations, and medical screenings for new admissions within 24 hours.
  • Prescribe and manage medications, including detoxification, withdrawal management, and medication-assisted treatment (MAT) protocols.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans in collaboration with the care team, integrating ASAM and evidence-based practices.
  • Supervise and support nursing staff in safe medication administration and clinical documentation practices.
  • Document all services in the electronic health record (EHR) in compliance with organizational standards and payer requirements.
  • Collaborate with therapists, case managers, and leadership to promote integrated behavioral and medical care.
  • Provide patient education related to medications, health promotion, and relapse prevention.
  • Respond to medical and psychiatric emergencies in coordination with crisis management protocols.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary treatment team meetings, audits, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain current licensure, certifications, and continuing education requirements.
