About The Position

This is an advanced practice nurse role requiring knowledge and skills gained through additional education and experience. The Nurse Practitioner will integrate in-depth nursing knowledge with the legal authority to order diagnostic tests, prescribe pharmaceuticals, and perform specific procedures for managing and treating common acute illnesses and stable chronic conditions. The position operates within a framework of evidence-based primary care, holism, health promotion, and disease and injury prevention. Key aspects include building partnerships with individuals, families, and communities, conducting community needs assessments, fostering inter-professional collaboration, and contributing to continuous improvements through evaluative processes and projects. The role also involves providing clinical assessment and treatment strategies tailored to specific care populations.

Requirements

  • Three years fulltime experience as a Registered Nurse
  • One (1) year experience with community development/health promotion activities
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN)
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license
  • Primary Health Care Nurse Practitioner Specialization
  • Basic Life Support Level C Certificate (BLS-C)
  • Advanced - Organizational skills

  • Advanced - Facilitation skills
  • Advanced - Problem solving skills
  • Advanced - Decision making skills
  • Advanced - Leadership skills
  • Advanced - Research skills
  • Ability to develop and deliver formal education programs

  • Knowledge of the diversity of cultures, values and traditions
  • Registered/eligible with the College of Registered Nurses of Saskatchewan (CRNS)
  • Travel within the region and provincially
  • Travel required

Nice To Haves

  • Master of Nurse Practitioner is acceptable
  • One (1) year nursing experience in a primary health care setting preferred
