About The Position

This part-time Nurse Practitioner position involves obtaining medical histories, performing physical examinations, diagnosing and treating primary care level health problems, and counseling patients on healthy lifestyle practices. The role also includes ordering and interpreting laboratory tests according to CLIA guidelines, providing primary level gynecologic care and contraceptive counseling, and participating in departmental programs for student education and staff development.

Requirements

  • A relevant master's degree
  • RN license in the State of Ohio
  • Adult or Family Health Nurse Practitioner Certification
  • Nurse Practitioner Certificate of Authority (COA)
  • Certificate to Prescribe (CTP) as issued by Ohio Board of Nursing
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certificate
  • Minimum of 1 year experience employed as a nurse practitioner in a college health, ambulatory care, urgent care or private physician's practice.
  • Ability to document and maintain health related records in accordance with university procedures.
  • Ability to promote the health maintenance and wellness of students and staff through health counseling, screening and the development of health awareness programs and activities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills in working with and educating a diverse university community.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain medical histories and perform physical examinations to diagnose and treat primary care level health problems.
  • Counsel patients regarding healthy lifestyle practices.
  • Perform and interpret laboratory tests as needed for diagnosis and treatment in accordance with CLIA guidelines.
  • Provide primary level gynecologic care, education, and guidance about contraceptive choices.
  • Participate in planning and implementation of departmental programs to educate students and develop staff.
  • Direct and monitor the work of students and/or temporary workers.
