About The Position

Palo Verde Behavioral Health Hospital provides comprehensive behavioral healthcare for children, adolescents, adults, and senior adults suffering from mental health and addictive illnesses. PVBH is an 84 bed, short-term, acute care hospital offering inpatient, partial and intensive outpatient hospitalization, as well as specialized treatment programs for chemical dependency. PVBH has an excellent reputation as an innovative hospital with caring, dedicated staff, experienced in the delivery of behavioral healthcare. Situated in Tucson, AZ, at the base of the Catalina Foothills, PVBH is minutes to Saguaro National Park and the University of Arizona. The Nurse Practitioner is responsible to oversee the quality of care delivered to his/her patients. Asses clinical appropriateness for admission and collaborate with Intake / Admissions regarding potential admissions. Perform psychiatric assessments for individuals under his/her care. Complete documentation necessary to address patients hospitalized under civil commitment statues. Provide individual therapy, family therapy and/or medication management as needed for patients under his/her care. Appropriately request consultations when indicated and provide psychiatric consultations when requested.

Requirements

Graduate of an accredited nursing school
Arizona License as a Psychiatric/Mental Health APRN or Psychiatric Mental Health Certified Nurse Specialist – Board Certified (PMHCNS-BC) or ANCC American Nurses Credentialing Center
Must maintain active status with medical staff and obey Medical Staff Rules and Regulations.
Maintain current professional license
Where applicable, maintain current liability insurance
Current AZ State Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card
Minimum two years’ experience in mental health.
Must be certified in CPR upon hire and bi-annually thereafter
Must possess or obtain and be able to perform Handle With Care within 30 days of hire and re-certify as needed.
Must complete all required mandatory in-services annually.
Must be tested for Tuberculosis with a PPD skin test or chest x-ray upon hire and as required thereafter.

Nice To Haves

Board Certification Preferred (if seeing Medicare patients) Medicare requires board certification.
Prior experience in a hospital based psychiatric practice and outpatient psychiatric practice preferred
