The Nurse Practitioner will provide comprehensive nursing care and medical care as required, assessing the physical and emotional needs of patients and their families. This role involves planning and ensuring the delivery of specific health care services, providing medical treatment and advice, and securing case history information. The Nurse Practitioner will perform patient examinations, utilize diagnostic tests, interpret findings for diagnoses, and perform necessary treatments with follow-up care. Referrals to other health services will be made for patients whose needs fall outside the scope of practice. The position also includes prescribing and/or dispensing medications per protocol, directing and participating in preventive health programs, and adhering to CVHS contract provisions. The Nurse Practitioner will assist other health professionals, maintain high standards of personal and professional behavior, and engage in continuing professional education. Collaboration with the CVHS Patient Educator and physicians for patient health maintenance education is expected, potentially including instructing local community groups. Participation in quality assurance programs and healthcare program planning is also a key function. Prompt consultation with the collaborating physician for complex cases is required, along with maintaining complete and orderly medical records. Administrative, supervisory, and teaching duties may be performed as directed. The role supports a team-based approach to patient-centered medical care and requires attendance as scheduled, along with performing other reasonable duties.
