About The Position

River Vista Behavioral Health, a new 128-bed facility overlooking the San Joaquin River, will offer advanced behavioral health services to the Central Valley. This facility will employ over 250 individuals, including clinicians, nurses, mental health technicians, support staff, and administration. We are seeking a compassionate and talented Nurse Practitioner (NP) to join our Medical Staff Team. The Nurse Practitioner will diagnose and provide emergency psychiatric services, and conduct physical and psychosocial examinations for both in-patient and outpatient patients.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree from an accredited nursing program.
  • Currently licensed to practice by the California State Board of Nursing.
  • CPR certification.
  • Successful completion of Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) training (may be obtained during new hire orientation).
  • A thorough knowledge of TJC, Medicare, OSHA regulations and all other state and federal regulatory standards.
  • Possess strong understanding of societies and their impact on mental health.
  • A strong knowledge of The Joint Commission, HCFA, OSHA regulations, and patient rights standards and all other applicable federal and state laws and regulations governing mental health care facilities.

Nice To Haves

  • A minimum of two (2) years’ experience in a psychiatric/behavioral health-care facility preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide psychiatric and psychosocial services, physical and psychosocial examinations to all patients.
  • Develop appropriate treatment plans and provides effective management of patient care with proper evaluation.
  • Performs group or individual therapy and assessments.
  • Provide staff and family consultation around medications and other clinical concerns.
  • Collaborates with all members of healthcare team.
  • Promote evidenced-based care within a healing culture for the patient population served and their families.
  • Responsible for providing in-patient care to patients showing a change or decline in mental status, chronic or urgent medical conditions.
  • Prescribe medications within the facility’s policy, formulary and relevant regulations of the state.
  • Consult with attending physicians on cases that are beyond the scope of qualifications id psychiatric NP.
  • Provide consultation to the Nursing, Intake, and Medical Staff for improvement in their work performance, which enhance overall quality service delivery of the care.
