About The Position

This position is for a Nurse Practitioner specializing in Family Practice / Primary Care at the Haskell Indian Health Center in Lawrence, KS. The role involves providing comprehensive general nurse practitioner services. The contract is for a base year with four option years, starting in June 2026. The work schedule is Monday through Thursday from 7:00 AM to 4:30 PM and Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, ensuring a minimum of 40 hours per week. The position requires an active, unrestricted license in any U.S. State or Territory, a DEA license, and state CDS if applicable. BLS and NP certifications (ANCC or AANP) are mandatory. A minimum of 2 years of full-time clinical experience as a Nurse Practitioner within the last 2 years is required. Proficiency in Electronic Health Records (IHS EHR preferred), same-day documentation completion, strong clinical assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning skills, and knowledge of prescribing guidelines are essential. The role also requires cultural sensitivity when working with Native American populations and strong communication skills. Credentialing and onboarding are expected to take 6 to 8 weeks.

Requirements

  • Active, full, and unrestricted license in any U.S. State or Territory

Responsibilities

  • Examine, diagnose, and treat patients (minimum ~16 patients per day)
  • Develop and implement treatment plans
  • Refer patients to specialists within IHS/CHS guidelines
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in EHR
  • Complete consults, charting, and administrative work on the same day
  • Participate in meetings and comply with CMS and AAAHC standards
  • Follow prescribing guidelines and facility protocols
  • Provide care across departments as needed
  • Ensure compliance with quality and credentialing standards
