Requirements

  • Current registration (or eligibility to register) as a Nurse Practitioner with the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba
  • Advanced physical assessment and critical thinking skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills & relationship building skills
  • Commitment to delivering the highest standard in patient care and client experience
  • Ability to prioritize, and work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Occupational Health activities, including: Pre-employment and periodic medicals, Fitness for work assessment, Occupational injury reporting and classification

Responsibilities

  • Conduct pre-employment, and periodic, medical examinations to assess workers' fitness for duty and identify any health concerns related to their workplace roles.
  • Diagnose, treat, and manage work-related injuries and illnesses; provide appropriate medical care and documentation for workers' compensation claims.
  • Diagnose, treat, and manage non-work-related injuries and illnesses; provide appropriate medical care and documentation while employee is awaiting access to primary care provider.
  • Review medical surveillance programs outcomes for employees exposed to occupational hazards (e.g., noise, chemicals, dust); provide immediate treatment as required.
  • Provide workers with guidance on occupational health issues, lifestyle modifications, and prevention strategies; promote healthy workplace behaviors and injury prevention.
  • Record all patient encounters and document appropriately.
  • Report workplace injuries according to the client’s internal policies, and to the appropriate territorial/provincial bodies as required.
  • Collaborate with client management and the broader TELUS team to drive improvements towards best practice and better health outcomes.
