About The Position
The Nurse Practitioner will provide substance use and behavioral health care in Corona, Queens, New York. In collaboration with the Medical Director and Behavioral Health leadership, the NP will help expand access to care for individuals affected by substance use disorders. The role includes delivering trauma-informed care, evaluating patients, managing treatment plans, prescribing medication, and supporting patients throughout recovery. The NP will work with a multidisciplinary team and provide health education, advocacy, screenings, and referrals.
Requirements
- NYS Nurse Practitioner license and NYSED certification.
- DATA 2000 waiver (X-waiver).
- NYS Prescriptive Authority.
- Experience or interest in addiction medicine and behavioral health.
- Collaborative mindset, strong communication skills, and genuine empathy.
Nice To Haves
- Bilingual Spanish/English is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct, trauma-informed care to patients with substance use disorders.
- Perform patient assessments and manage treatment plans.
- Prescribe medications, including buprenorphine and naltrexone.
- Lead HIV and hepatitis C screenings and make medical referrals for high-risk populations.
- Collaborate with mental health clinicians, peers, care managers, the Medical Director, and Behavioral Health leadership.
- Deliver education and advocacy related to health, wellness, and prevention.
- Support patients throughout their recovery journeys.
