About The Position

Radiology Imaging Associates (RIA) is comprised of over 100 radiologists, most of whom are fellowship-trained in their field of specialty. RIA is dedicated to accurate and efficient patient diagnosis and partners with primary care physicians and hospitals across Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska, Oklahoma, and Hawaii. This part-time Nurse Practitioner role focuses on patient care within the breast biopsy suite, involving patient counseling, pre-surgical procedures, care coordination, and follow-up.

Requirements

  • Advanced Practice Nurse required (Women’s Health NP strongly preferred)
  • Knowledge of diagnostic breast imaging and breast cancer diagnosis, or willingness to learn
  • BLS Certified
  • Exemplary verbal and written communication skills
  • Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, Excel)
  • Ability to work independently with a high degree of accuracy and minimal supervision
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Responsibilities

  • Counsel and obtain consents for patients having procedures in the breast biopsy suite.
  • Review medical histories and clear each patient for breast biopsy and pre-surgical procedures.
  • Coordinate the patient’s care with the radiologist, biopsy technologists, and circulating nurse within the outpatient surgery center.
  • Serve as the point of contact for patients and referring physician’s offices regarding planned procedures.
  • Educate and assist patients with questions prior to their scheduled biopsy procedure.
  • Follow up with patients who have post biopsy concerns and coordinate post biopsy evaluations as needed.
  • Preview and document all surgical cases and coordinate pre-surgical procedure plan with the radiologist, technologists, and surgeon’s office.
  • Attend weekly Multidisciplinary Breast Conference (Tumor Board), document case discussions and treatment plans.
  • Help to develop protocols for the biopsy suite, participate in research studies and training courses.
  • Assist with quality control, compliance and/or OSHA, HIPPA and AAAHC requirements.
  • Maintain values congruent with the Code of Ethics as well as adhering to national, institutional and/or departmental standards, policies, and procedures regarding the standards of care for patients.
  • All other duties as assigned.
