About The Position

The Nurse Practitioner is responsible for providing quality care to patients while under the supervision of a licensed physician. This role involves practicing medicine within the scope of license, training, and credentialing, adhering to current standards of care and quality criteria. The Nurse Practitioner will promote a safety-conscious workplace, evaluate and follow up with patients, and complete all required documentation in a timely manner. Additionally, the role includes participating in the development and review of office policies, supporting the Practice Manager, and demonstrating the ability to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individual patient care appropriate to the age of the patients served. The Nurse Practitioner must also communicate appropriately with patients regardless of age and attend required hospital-wide orientations, meetings, and in-services. A commitment to flexible work scheduling is necessary to ensure patient care.

Requirements

  • Current, unrestricted license to work as a Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant in the Commonwealth of Virginia and/or the State of North Carolina
  • Current DEA certification without restrictions
  • BLS certification

Nice To Haves

  • 2+ years as a Physician Assistant, or Nurse Practitioner

Responsibilities

  • Practice medicine within the scope of license, training, and credentialing

  • Complete patient charting and all required paperwork in a timely manner
  • Participate in the development and/or review of office policies and support the Practice Manager in their duties
  • Demonstrate the ability to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individual patient care appropriate to the age of the patients served by demonstrating a strong working knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span
  • Communicate appropriately with the person served, regardless of age
  • Attend required hospital-wide orientations, meetings, and in-services
  • Demonstrate a commitment to flexible work scheduling when necessary to ensure patient care
