Requirements

  • Must hold active Nurse Practitioner license
  • Master’s degree in Nursing from an accredited institution of higher learning required
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in nursing in a mental health setting preferred
  • Prior experience in the chemical dependency field preferred
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a managerial role preferred
  • Personal passion or interest in substance abuse issues strongly preferred
  • Must be committed to drug-free lifestyle and responsible alcohol use

Responsibilities

  • Each provider is required to take calls for their region one day per week, or two days per week if another provider is on PTO or out unexpectedly. Calls outside of normal business hours will route to the provider on call. Standard response time is 30 minutes
  • Direct patient care, including the use of prescription medications, whether through written or standing orders
  • Assess face to face all patients at all levels of care who have a valid medical complaint
  • Direct aftercare and discharge planning as needed
  • Maintain appropriate state licensure
  • Have no pending or past sanctions, debarments, suspensions, or exclusions by any federally funded healthcare program, including Medicare and Medicaid
  • Act in accordance with the policies, procedures, and standards of the facility including all relevant regulations of JCAHO and State Regulations
  • Perform a thorough psychiatric evaluation within the first 24 hours following a patient’s admission
  • Perform a thorough medical history and physical examination within the first 24 hours following a patient’s admission
  • Assess face-to-face all patients at a Detoxification level of care 365 days per year
  • Assess face-to-face all other patients at least once per week of their stay
  • Attend all Treatment Team meetings and other appointments requested to support coordinated patient care and review progress toward treatment goals
