The Nurse Practitioner will provide comprehensive nursing care and medical care as required, assessing the physical and emotional needs of patients and their families. They will plan and ensure the delivery of specific health care services, provide medical treatment and advice, and secure case history and related pertinent information. The role involves performing patient examinations, utilizing diagnostic tests, interpreting findings for diagnoses, and diagnosing ailments for necessary treatment and follow-up. Referrals for consultation will be made for patients whose needs fall outside the scope of practice. The Nurse Practitioner will prescribe and/or dispense medications per protocol and state licensure limitations, and direct, organize, and participate in preventive health programs. Adherence to the CVHS contract, assisting other health professionals, and maintaining high standards of personal and professional behavior are expected. A commitment to continuing professional education is essential for keeping medical knowledge and competence at an acceptable level. The role involves providing thorough health maintenance education to patients, potentially instructing local community groups. Participation in quality assurance programs and healthcare program planning, instituting, evaluating, and revising is required. Prompt consultation with the collaborating physician for complex patients is necessary. Maintaining complete and orderly medical records in a problem-oriented format is crucial. Administrative, supervisory, and teaching duties within the scope of competence may be assigned. The position requires attending work as scheduled and performing other reasonable duties as directed. Supporting a team-based approach to patient-centered medical care is fundamental.
