About The Position

The Nurse Practitioner provides patient services through the performance of patient evaluation, assessment, and treatment in the medical office setting, as allowed by state licensure laws under the supervision of the medical director. The nurse practitioner works closely with clinic staff, hospital departments, and community agencies. This role involves frequent contact with many persons at different levels inside and outside the organization to carry out policies and programs and obtain willing acceptance, consent, or action. Probable errors are not easily detected and may adversely affect external as well as internal relationships, potentially resulting in major expenditures or detrimental outcomes to patient welfare or the organization's interest. The work requires considerable accuracy and responsibility, with duties potentially involving the preparation of data for important administrative decisions that are highly confidential. The role involves a variety of complex problems, requiring independent judgment to meet general objectives. The work involves moderate physical effort, including lifting, carrying, or handling lightweight materials and occasional medium weight objects. Office or laboratory work requires close visual effort and concentration. The role involves moderate working conditions, with potential exposure to dirt, odors, noise, temperature extremes, or occupational risk, and a limited probability of contact with bloodborne pathogens or other infectious materials. Specific tasks may involve contact with blood, body fluids, or sharps, and direct work with patients less than 12 months of age.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree
  • Six months of related experience
  • Georgia Nurse Practitioner License
  • Georgia Licensed Practical Nurse or Multistate Nursing License
  • Healthcare Provider (CPR)
  • Able to communicate effectively with medical and hospital staff and various populations in clinics and public screening events.
  • Current certification as a Nurse Practitioner in Georgia
  • Graduate of a recognized program for Nurse Practitioner training (MSN).
  • Must be capable of dealing tactfully and effectively with patients, family members, other employees and physicians
  • Must maintain high degree of confidentiality.
  • Must meet credentialing criteria.
  • Must possess the cognitive ability to understand patient medical records, physician orders and medical orders to be communicated to patient, hospital and/or other physician.
  • Must possess the sense or discipline to work in accordance with accepted clinical standards.

Nice To Haves

  • ACLS recommended.
  • Additional certification will be required for some specialties (i.e. ACLS, PALS)
  • Prior experience in a like specialty preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performs evaluations, provides treatment, and counsels patients.

  • Offers ideas and solutions for issues that affect the team and work area.
  • Participates in the training and skills development of new clinical staff.
  • Assists as needed.
  • Participates in patient satisfaction initiatives.
  • Demonstrates excellent customer service skills.
  • Communicates effectively with patients and management regarding service recovery opportunities.
  • Works together with other team members to achieve Office and System customer service goals.
  • Maintains and updates skill levels for pertinent medical assistant duties.
  • Participates in continuing education.
  • Participates in the development of new programs (e.g., Process Improvement, Quality Initiatives).
