Nurse Practitioner
About The Position
The Nurse Practitioner role, reporting to the manager of nursing in the neonatal intensive care unit, involves collaborating with medical and nursing staff to provide clinical care, education, and support to families and clients in the NICU. The position requires staying updated on new initiatives and practice trends in clinical practice, research, and education. Responsibilities include developing and implementing related policies and procedures, creating quality improvement initiatives for advanced nursing practice, and conducting research related to advanced nursing practice with publication of results. The role also involves providing input and support for nursing and medical staff development, offering follow-up care for clients/families discharged from the NICU, and extending this follow-up to pediatric outpatient departments and rural/outreach settings. A key aspect of the role is providing leadership in areas of care, assessment, research, and education, as well as participating in policy and procedure development and monitoring standards of practice.
Requirements
- Master of Nursing (MN)
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program Instructor Certificate (NRP)
- Basic Life Support Instructor Certificate (BLS)
- Basic - Interpersonal skills
- Basic - Assessment skills
- Basic - Teaching skills
- Ability to design, develop & implement research study
- Knowledge in program development and implementation
- Registered/eligible with the College of Registered Nurses of Saskatchewan (CRNS)

Responsibilities
