About The Position

The Nurse Practitioner role is a full-time, regular position located at Kanza Clinic in Newkirk, OK. The primary responsibilities include providing medical care and treatments according to credentials and privileges either in a clinical setting or through public health services, maintaining records, participating on committees, and upholding ethical standards. This role involves performing physical examinations, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, recording patient assessments, and referring patients to physicians or specialized resources when necessary. The Nurse Practitioner will also be involved in case management, handling emergencies, participating in various committee and community activities, and providing education to schools and community organizations. Maintaining certification requirements and ensuring timely patient referrals are also key aspects of this position. The role requires the ability to analyze and interpret professional information, write reports, present information effectively, and work with mathematical concepts. Occasional lifting of up to 35 pounds may be required.

Requirements

  • Graduated from an accredited Nurse Practitioner’s program that meets the Oklahoma State requirements for licensure. (Master’s degree equivalent in Family or Women’s Health).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Intermediate math skills and problem solving abilities.
  • Oklahoma State Nursing license.
  • National Nurse Practitioner Certification.
  • Currently certified in CPR.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

  • Provides medical care according to credentials held by employee.
  • Performs physical examinations and preventive health measures.
  • Orders, interprets, and evaluates diagnostic tests to identify and assess patient’s clinical problems and health care needs, as well as case management.
  • Records physical findings, and formulates plan and prognosis, based on patient’s condition.
  • Refers patients to Physician for consultation or specialized health resources for treatment when warranted.
  • Case Management, creating, walking patients through the process, and handling follow-ups.
  • Evaluates emergencies and renders lifesaving procedures.
  • Participates in committee activities, community activities, and education activities.
  • Participates or chairs assigned committee meetings.
  • Participates in community health fairs.
  • Provides education to schools and/or community organizations.
  • Maintains certification requirements.
  • Assures patient referrals handled in a timely manner.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Must be able to present information and respond to questions from various groups.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference and fundamentals such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or schedule forms.
  • Ability to occasionally lift or move up to 35 pounds.
  • Carries out directives of their respective responsibilities as prescribed by the Immediate or Controlling Supervisor
