About The Position

Meritus Health is seeking a full-time Nurse Practitioner to join our Wound Care Center. This role involves working independently and in collaboration with Physicians to deliver care and integrate patient services for patients with the goal of achieving specific clinical, financial, and satisfaction outcomes. The Nurse Practitioner will coordinate with the patient's healthcare team, adhere to ethical principles, and deliver healthcare in a therapeutic and professional manner, demonstrating sensitivity to unique patient needs. The position involves preserving patient autonomy, dignity, rights, values, and beliefs, and advocating for patients. The Wound Center treats a variety of wounds including acute traumatic wounds, chronic and complex wounds, pressure ulcers, venous ulcers with edema, diabetic foot ulcers, and post-operative wound dehiscence, utilizing advanced treatment modalities such as TCC, wound vac, PICO vacs, and cellular-based tissue products, as well as ostomy care.

Requirements

  • Masters in Nursing required.
  • Completion of a Certified Nurse Practitioner program.
  • Five years’ experience as a Registered Nurse.
  • License to practice as Nurse Practitioner in the State of Maryland required.
  • Current DEA Registration and CDS permit required.
  • Current BLS (CPR) in compliance with policy required.
  • ACLS (if applicable) in compliance with policy required.
  • For Wound Center only, ACLS in compliance with policy required.
  • Demonstrates critical thinking, extensive clinical competence and expertise.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well with all disciplines at all levels.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of case management, outcomes management and managed care.
  • Will have EHR computer access.

Nice To Haves

  • Doctorate Degree in Nursing Preferred.
  • Wound experience is preferred.
  • One-year experience as a Nurse Practitioner preferred.
  • ACLS and PALS (if applicable) in compliance with policy required.
  • Fluency in coding, ICD-10 and CPT, or commitment to acquire.
  • Proficiency in EPIC preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Delivering care and integrating patient services to patients with the goal of achieving specific clinical, financial and satisfaction outcomes for specific patient populations and disease processes.
  • Coordinating with patient's healthcare team.
  • Adhering to ethical principles of practice as defined by the Nurse Practice Act and the ANA code of ethics for nurses.
  • Delivering healthcare in a therapeutic and professional manner demonstrating sensitivity towards unique patient/significant other needs.
  • Preserving and protecting the patient's autonomy, dignity, rights, values, and beliefs.
  • Demonstrating the ability to advocate for the patients.
  • Treating all types of wounds including but not limited to: Acute traumatic wounds, Chronic and complex wounds, Care of pressure ulcers, Care of venous ulcers associated with edema utilizing compression wraps, Care of diabetic foot ulcers, Post-operative wound dehiscence.
  • Utilizing advanced treatment modalities: TCC (total contact casting), wound vac, PICO vacs and cellular based tissue products), ostomy care.
