About The Position

The Urology Nurse Practitioner (NP) works closely with urologists, surgeons, and other healthcare providers to coordinate comprehensive care. This role involves staying current with advances in urology and participating in continuing education opportunities. The NP will serve as a resource and provide guidance to nursing staff and other team members on urological care. A key aspect of the role is educating patients and their families on urological conditions, treatment options, and preventive measures. The position requires conducting comprehensive assessments of patients with urological conditions, including detailed history taking and physical examinations. The NP will perform or assist with minor urological procedures, such as catheterizations, cystoscopies, and biopsies. Additionally, the role involves developing, implementing, and evaluating individualized treatment plans in collaboration with urologists and other healthcare professionals. The Urology NP also provides pre-operative and post-operative care, including patient education on surgical procedures, recovery, and follow-up care.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in nursing.
  • Current and unrestricted license in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States or the District of Columbia.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification by a provider recognized by the American Heart Association.
  • Minimum of one-year clinical experience as a Nurse Practitioner, with a focus on urology or related fields.
