About The Position

Riggs Community Health Center is seeking Adult-Gerontology Nurse, Family, Pediatric, or Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioners for its Nurse Practitioner Residency Program. This 1-year paid residency is designed for new nurse practitioners (graduated within the last 18 months) who are committed to developing careers in rural or under-served healthcare settings. The program aims to improve access to quality, cost-effective, comprehensive healthcare with respect and compassion for under-served community members. Upon successful completion, residents are given first consideration for permanent employment at Riggs Community Health Center or its community partner facilities. Riggs Community Health Center is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) with NCQA's Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) recognition.

Requirements

  • Citizen of the United States, a non-citizen national, or a foreign national who possesses a visa permitting permanent residence in the United States.
  • Recent graduates (18 months or less from program start August 2024).
  • MSN or DNP from an accredited primary care nurse practitioner program.
  • Family Nurse Practitioner, Adult/Gerontology Nurse Practitioner, Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, Psychiatric/Mental Health Nurse Practitioner board certification by the start of the program.
  • Indiana state RN and APN credentialing, if applicable.
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to providing primary care to medically under-served populations.
  • Strong commitment to practice as a primary care provider in a FQHC or other rural setting.
  • Must have completed a 2-credit pharmacology course within the last 5 years.
  • Willingness to shadow at Riggs CHC and community partner clinics prior to acceptance.
  • Willingness to travel to and from clinic sites in Lafayette, Frankfort, Lebanon, Delphi, Burlington, Wolcott, Monon, Attica, and Crawfordsville within Indiana.
